Manhattans – After Midnight

A masterpiece by The Manhattans released by CBS/Sony in 1980.

Featuring their signature song “Shining Star,” this record is highly recommended as an entry point into 80s soul.

Sweet and smooth harmonies, urban strings, and a mellow sound that captures the atmosphere of the night.

“Shining Star,” in particular, is a classic that has been sampled extensively in later Hip Hop and West Coast culture.

Beyond just flashy tracks, digging for "soul music you want to listen to at night" like this is one of the joys of record collecting.

Including the careful packaging unique to Japanese pressings, this album perfectly preserves the air of the year 1980.
