Ron Hardy - Muzic Box Classics Volume 4

Ron Hardy, a DJ who left his mark on the history of Chicago House.

This is Vol. 4 of the "Muzic Box Classics" series, which features edits played by Hardy at the legendary Chicago club, the Music Box, transferred to vinyl from open-reel tapes that had been dormant for years.

Side A features the Ron Hardy Edit of the Philadelphia Soul/Disco classic "Are You Ready For This" by Revelation, also known from Ron Hardy’s mix sets.

Side B features "Don't You Know," a track released by the artist later known as K-Alexi under his Risque III alias.

Cutting, extending, looping, and transforming existing tracks into something new for the dance floor.

What Ron Hardy left behind was not merely a DJ mix, but a sensibility that viewed the edit itself as a form of creative expression.

Rather than serving as direct sampling fodder for Hip-Hop, this record showcases the idea of reconstructing disco and soul as source material, connecting to the later culture of sampling and remixing.

An intriguing record for tracing the roots of Chicago House, Disco, and Edit Culture.
