Saul Leiter

Saul Leiter was a photographer who captured the streets of New York from angles no one else seemed to notice.

Rain-slicked windows, people with umbrellas, storefronts, and snowy alleys.
Vivid colors and slightly soft focus.
His photographs feel less like they are "documenting" New York and more like he is quietly observing the city with his own eyes.

While Leiter worked as a fashion photographer starting in the 1950s, he stepped away from the commercial photography scene in the 1980s and was largely forgotten for many years.

The spark that brought him back to the world's attention was the 2006 publication of *Early Color*.
Leiter's color photographs, published when he was already 83 years old, sent shockwaves through the photography world.

The book *Forever Saul Leiter* is the official catalog for the exhibition held in 2020.

It contains approximately 200 works, including pieces released to the public for the first time, New York street snaps, self-portraits, and portraits of his sister and those close to him.

Leiter left behind an estimated 80,000 color photographs, passing away with much of that vast archive left unorganized.

For him, photography may have been less about achieving fame and more an act of gazing at the world around him.

Fashion, photography, graphic design, film, music.
A book that offers a glimpse into a "way of seeing New York" that continues to influence culture today, transcending genres.
