L.L. Cool J – Around The Way Girl

A signature ladies' anthem by L.L. Cool J, produced by Marley Marl in 1990.

This track is iconic to L.L. Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" era. It is a classic that shines with a sensibility for sampling Soul, Funk, and R&B, blending the memorable vocals from Mary Jane Girls' "All Night Long," the melody from Keni Burke's "Risin’ to the Top," and drums from The Honey Drippers' "Impeach the President."

With a bouncy beat, mellow instrumentation, and L.L. Cool J's smooth flow, this record captures the proximity between the street and R&B that defined early 90s Hip-Hop.
